On October 12, 2011, When I found out that the Houston Motorcycle Exchange did not receive the check I mailed to them for the final payment of the layaway I had with them, I went to my bank in Bandera, Texas, and put a "Stop Payment" on that check. Afterward, on that same day, I phoned and notified Tommy Fabregas of the Houston Motorcycle Exchange that with cash to pay off the layaway, I would drive my van to the Houston Motorcycle Exchange, and drive home with the motorcycle in my van. I asked my brother Doug if he wanted to go with me to Houston, Texas, and he said yes, so Doug and I unloaded my music equipment from my van into my home in Bandera. Later that day, while driving east on Interstate 10 in San Antonio, Texas, the transmission in my 1990 Chevy G20 van broke, and caused me to make a decision to pull it over in a gravel lot near the Houston Street and I-10 exit. I made a decision to abandon my van, and left it there in that gravel lot. Then I decided that on the Greyhound Bus Doug and I would continue on our way to Houston, and I phoned the Houston Motorcycle Exchange and explained to Mr. Fabregas that my van was broken down, and my plans had changed in that I would ride the Greyhound Bus to Houston, also that I planned to ride the motorcycle home on the back streets. Afterward, on that same day, in downtown San Antonio, I bought myself and Doug, since he was in my company, tickets and that night we arrived in Houston. Doug and I stayed awake that night while at the downtown Houston Greyhound Bus station, and at 4:30am on October 13, 2011, we got on Houston's local Metro Bus, which we rode to the Houston Motorcycle Exchange located at 1326 N. Durham, where we were at 9am on when the Houston Motorcycle Exchange opened for business. Two people opened the Houston Motorcycle Exchange that morning, one man named Tommy Fabregas, and another man whom I had never met or seen before. When they opened the store that morning Doug and I walked in, and at that time I showed both of them that I had the cash in my hand, and expressed to them that I was ready to spend that cash as the final payment on the motorcycle that I had on layaway there. After that, I said to them "Start it up," since I hadn't yet  heard it run . Then Mr. Fabregas questioned me about my plans to ride the motorcycle back to Bandera, also he asked his co-worker if he thought the motorcycle would be able to make such a trip. Mr. Fabregas and his co-worker were both in agreement in their belief that in their opinions the motorcycle I had on layaway would not be able to make the trip I had planned for it to get back to Bandera. After they expressed that opinion to me, I told them that I would take my chances, but at that time they expressed to me that were changing there minds about wanting to sell me the motorcycle. I then questioned them as to why they were selling me a motorcycle that they were not confident could go two-hundred and fifty miles. Immediately after questioning that, I reminded Mr. Fabregas that when I had hitchhiked to Houston almost three months prior, and he and I did the initial paperwork for the down payment, that I had told him then of my intentions to ride the motorcycle back to Bandera, and that he had told me during that initial conversation, almost three months prior, that he thought the motorcycle I was putting on layaway should not have a problem making the trip from Houston to Bandera on the back roads. Immediately Mr. Fabregas yelled at me that he never said such and thing, and denied that we ever had that conversation.

I thought things were screwy that morning when before all this was said, and I first showed them my cash I was planning to use to pay off the motorcycle, how Mr. Fabregas directed his co-worker to finish the layaway paperwork, which Mr. Fabregas had started with me almost three months prior when I put my down payment on the motorcycle, telling his co- worker to finish the layaway paperwork, which he his co-worker had started, but I had never before met Mr. Fabregas' co-worker. I chose not to argue that issue, but did find it to be an untruthful way of finishing the sale of the motorcycle.

Mr. Fabregas got visibly, and verbally angry and out of control, yelling at me, "Are you calling me a liar?" In answer to that question I said, "You just lied.", in regard to his denial that he ever said that the motorcycle should have no problem making the trip from Houston to Bandera if I rode it on the back roads. Immediately after I said that to Mr. Fabregas, he angrily grabbed my cowboy hat, and threw it to the other side of the motorcycle shop, and began yelling at me to get out of the store. I then walked across the motorcycle shop, picked up my hat, and said to Mr. Fabregas that I wanted my money back. Then Mr. Fabregas told me to wait outside of the store for my money, and when I stepped outside he followed me outside, and  pushed me farther out into the Houston Motorcycle Exchange parking lot. After he pushed me, I pushed him back as he walked back towards the front door of the store. After that, Mr. Fabregas turned around and looked at me, and I said to him that I would defend myself.

A few minutes later, Mr. Fabregas' co-worker walked out of the store onto the Houston Motorcycle Exchange parking lot where I was waiting, and he gave me my money back. At that time, Mr. Fabregas' co-worker said to me that he was in agreement with Mr. Fabregas, and my reply to him was that it was because he was being a kiss ass. Then Mr. Fabregas' co-worker began yelling at me in denial, and while that was going on, Mr. Fabregas walked out of the store's front door and onto the Houston Motorcycle Exchange parking lot where I was standing about five feet away from the front door, and without saying a word to me, Mr. Fabregas pushed me, so in self defense I pushed him back. Immediately after I pushed him back, Mr. Fabregas punched me in the face, so in self-defense, I punch back in his direction, but I missed him, and because I missed him with my punch, I kicked in his direction, but missed him. That was when, with my leg extended forward in Mr. Fabregas' direction, Mr. Fabragas grabbed my leg, and with it picked me up off of the ground, and slammed me with brute force, my back first, onto the cement parking lot of the Houston Motorcycle Exchange, and broke my ribs. Hurt, I stood up and called 911.

When two Houston Police Officers arrived, they first talked to Mr. Fabregas. When Officer J. R. Gray asked me if I needed an ambulance, I said, "No." Officer Gray told me that he could see no signs of injury to my face, and suggested I dropped the whole thing. At that time I told Officer Gray that if was my back that had the injury, which was cause by Mr. Fabregas' assault on me. After speaking to Officer Gray at that time, and being told by him that I could go to jail if I was to press charges against Mr. Fabregas for assault, I reluctantly decided not to press any charges against Mr. Fabregas.

That morning, after the police left the scene where I was assaulted by Mr. Fabregas, I began walking to a bus stop and was feeling a lot of pain in my back ribs, so I changed my mind and called the police a second time to file an assault charge against Mr. Fabregas. A few minutes after I made my second phone call to the Houston Police Department, Officer Gray and his partner drove up to me near the bus stop, and got out of their patrol car. Officer Gray said to me that he had heard that I made a second phone call to the police, and that he was getting angry, since I wanted to file an assault charge against Mr. Fabregas. At that time Officer Gray told me again that I had no physical signs of injury, and therefore had no case under which to file an assault charge against Mr. Fabregas, and that if I was to insist upon filing an assault charge against Mr. Fabregas, that he would throw me in jail for possibly three weeks, and that he would make things up on me to do it if he had to. After all of that, Officer Gray said to me that I would be better off to take my money and get out of Houston.

Doug and I were almost at the Houston Greyhound Bus station, later that day, when the pain in my back ribs was such that I decided to call an ambulance. The ambulance met us at the corner of San Jacinto and Binz, where after seeing Doug and I walking across the train station in downtown Houston, a paramedic told me that the Park Plaza Hospital Emergency Room was only a block away, so I walked into the Emergency Room. That same day, at Park Plaza Hospital x-rays were taken on my ribs, and the examining doctor notified me that I had broken ribs. From the emergency room, I phoned the Mayan Ranch in Bandera, Texas to cancel the gig, I was booked to play there on October 16, 2011. After receiving my discharge papers from the hospital, I phoned the Houston Police Department to file a charge of assault against Mr. Fabregas of the Houston Motorcycle Exchange. During that phone conversation with the Houston Police Department, I was told to go to the Police Substation at Westheimer and Montrose near downtown Houston to file my assault charge against Mr. Fabregas. Later that afternoon, when Doug and I arrived at the Police Substation at Westheimer and Montrose, I saw a sign posted on the front door, which read that the substation would be closed for one hour. At that time, I again phone the Houston Police Department to file an assault charge against Mr. Fabregas, , and was transferred to the downtown Houston Police Station located at 1200 Travis. That same day after leaving the hospital, I phoned the Western Trail Eatery in Bandera, Texas to cancel the gig I was booked to play there on October 15, 2011.

With the way things had been going with officer Gray getting upset with me, and telling me that he would make stuff up on me if he had to in order to throw me in jail, I said to Doug that I wondered if I was being set up by the police. As Doug and I were in the parking lot of the Westheimer and Montrose Police Substation, on the phone with the Houston Police Department at 1200 Travis, Doug and I saw officer Grays' partner drive up to the Police Substation in a civilian car, get out of the car, walk up to the substation door, unlock it, walk in, walk back out and get back in the car and drive away. I expressed to the Houston Police personnel that I was then on the phone with, my concerns that led me to think that I was possibly being set up. At that time the Houston Police personnel that I was on the phone with told me that the Police Substation at Westheimer and Montrose was not the place to file and assault charge, but rather the downtown Houston Police Station at 1200 Travis, on the sixth floor was where I needed to go, and that there, I could also make a statement in regards to what I thought was intimidation by Officer Gray. During that phone conversation the Houston Police personnel gave me the incident number 132744611-B, and told me that a report was never written by Officer Gray. Later that day, I arrived on the sixth floor of the downtown Houston Police Station where I filed written statements regarding the assault on me by Mr Fabregas at the Houston Motorcycle Exchange, plus my concerns regarding the intimidation I felt by officer Gray.

That night Doug and I stayed in a Motel 6 located at Interstate 10 and Hwy 6 in Houston, Texas. While at the Motel 6, I realized that I had gotten Mr. Fabregas' last name wrong in my written assault charge that I filed against him at the Houston Police Department, so before checking out on the morning of October 14, 2011, I made a phone call to the Houston Police Department and spoke with Officer J. B. Cornelius of the Homicide / Major Assault Unit to make correct the name of Mr. Fabregas in my assault charge. Also before checking out of the Motel 6 that morning, I phone the Harris County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Place 1 located at 7300 N. Shepard in Houston, Texas, and found out what the steps are to filing a Small Claims Court lawsuit. After Doug and I left the Motel 6, I mailed a certified letter to the Houston Motorcycle Exchange as notification that I would file a lawsuit in Small Claims Court if money was not sent to me within ten days of receiving that certified letter. On October 14, 2011, after I mailed the certified letter at a UPS located near I-10 and Hwy 6, I received a phone call from Officer Cornelius of the Houston Police Department, and I agreed with him to meet that afternoon on the sixth floor of the  downtown Houston Police Station at 1200 Travis, and during our meeting, I explained to the best of my ability the events that took place leading up to the assault on me by Mr. Fabregas, plus the intimidation I felt by Officer Gray of the Houston Police Department. Doug witness to Officer Cornelius, to the best of his ability in regard to the assault on me by Mr. Fabregas. Officer Cornelius said to me that Mr. Fabregas' co-worker is what they at the Houston Police Department consider a partial witness. Later that evening, Doug and I rode a greyhound Bus from Houston to San Antonio, where we stayed that night in the Fox Motel near downtown San Antonio.

On October 15, 2011, after checking out of the Fox Motel, I got on the internet, and found a 1991 Ford Econline van for sale on craigslist.com, which I bought that same day.

Afterward, on that same day, I sold my 1990 Chevy G20 van to prowtows.com, and Doug and I went home to Bandera, Texas in my van.

Green Trees

I’m thinking about you as I roll along beside a Santa Fe train
Headed south in the Rio Grande Valley on a strip of two lane highway
I’ve been on the road for a long time you know now with recent additions to the lonely
It’s miserably cold and the naked trees show their stems in all of their beauty

PRE-CHORUS
Summer was the time that you and I met
And the happiest by far that I have known yet
I never was a fan of a January freeze
And can’t wait ‘til Spring time when again I will see

CHORUS:
Green trees that give us oxygen we breathe
You giving to me and I to you love we need
God gave Adam his first breath of life
To me all we share together is as nice
Two of God’s creations that mean the world to me
Are you and green trees

The palm trees here in this southern hemisphere are being blown by the wind
But I won’t stay here long because in my song I soon will see you again
As soon as the trees have grown their new leaves and as prisoners of Winter we’re freed
My tour will go north and I’ll sing for all sorts and maybe someday we will marry

PRE-CHORUS

CHORUS

CHORUS
Two of God’s creations that mean the world to me
Are you and green trees

I'm Sorry I Missed Your Call (Your Hitchhiking Guitarman)

CHORUS:
Darlin’ I’m sorry I missed your call
With you I surely would have loved to talk
If about nothing else other than how I hope you’re doing well
This delightful holiday season

The message you left is right you’re hard to reach on the phone
So with email Darlin’ I will write and send you a song
Why so much better am I when my song of love is written
Than am I on the line for some cannot it say reason

1st VERSE
I’ll always be your one and only Hitchhiking Guitarman
Thanks to Jesus and a good friend I now own a Chevy van
So drivin’ across the country and playing music is my new plan
I’d love it if you could go with me Darlin’ will you say you can

CHORUS

2nd VERSE
Before I have written to you with you I’m falling in love
A chance there is would you agree it’s meant to be from above
You and I could travel these United States and abroad together
Makin’ sweet and beautiful harmony through whatever God’s weather
BRIDGE:
The idea might seem crazy to you since I am a poor man
Your Hitchhiking Guitarman still I am though now with a van
And blessed I am because I choose in strong faith to make my stand
Each day I pray Christ will watch over me because He can

(1st 1/2 of CHORUS)
I hope you’re doing well this holiday season

Good Folks Who Love Jesus

CHORUS:
No matter how hard he may try
The devil just can't get inside
The hearts of God fearing wise
Good folks who love Jesus

Knowing ol' Satan won't ever stop
Lying that a soul can always be bought
With the Lord as our mighty shield and rock
We're good folks who love Jesus

A young couple they were on the verge of sinning
But instead sought knowledge for a bright beginning
Listening to their parents who had said where to go
They walked holding hands to the church down the road

CHORUS

The couple heard the pastor there that gave this advice
Son ask her for her hand in marriage to start a new life
The moment that there of he knelt and took her hand
He asked her will you marry me and make me a happy mand

CHORUS

The woman then began to cry weeping tears of joy
Nine months after saying I do they had a baby boy
As mother and as father they taught their son how to live
When that boy became a man he knew it's better to give

CHORUS

CHORUS:
I think we should run away together
Let's go be happy forever
And all the things that make us sad
Let's put in the past

To the unwanted stress in our lives
I believe we can simply say goodbye
Heaven knows you and I
Don't need not more of that

I'm not trying to tell you what to do
But a couple of things I'll suggest to you
Say with me you're run away to stay
And lets go live our lives happily ever after
Forever

I won't ever claim to know for you what is the very best
I work very hard to please you and let love do the rest

If what I ever do displeases you please let me know
And if you ever want that I would leave you alone then I would sadly go

CHORUS

I'll make the trip before too long to Tennessee

CHORUS:
If you find someone new before I get there I'll be blue
'Cause I'll miss kissing your sweet lips for the first time
I've never met someone like you
Tennessee lady my love is true
I hope this song I wrote gets through
To hold your heart is what its meant to do

I'm on the road it seems every day
To different folks I sing and play
I won't deny I love what I do
A lie would be to say it compares to you

How is it gonna be
Your hazel eyes I desire to see
This Texas highway though has the best of me
I'll make the trip before too long to Tennessee

CHORUS

What are we gonna do
We both say I love you
We're a thousand miles apart

While in Sean Howell's truck on their way to Johnson City, Dean received a phone call from Gillespie County Deputy Sheriff, Ed Hamilton, who told Dean that, that morning someone at Luckenbach, Texas contacted them, and signed a criminal trespass against Dean. On September 22, 2009, Dean started hitchhiking in the rain in San Antonio to Johnson City, Texas, and after hiking about a half a mile he hitched a ride with Sean Howell of Bulverde, Texas, who took Dean all the way to Johnson City, Texas. On September 21, 2009, at Wavemaker Studio in San Antonio, Texas, Dean recorded his songs "I'm So Thankful" "If You Go There", and a country version of "You're Meaning More And More To Me". On September 18, 2009, Dean performed as scheduled at Sam's Burger Joint in San Antonio, Texas. September 18, 2009, using email to communicate, Dean schedule a recording session for September 21, 2009 at Wavemaker Studio in San Antonio, Texas. On September 18, 2009, Dean's story was published in the San Antonio Express-News

On September 16, 2009, Dean recorded his song "You're Meaning More And More To Me", at Wavemaker Studio in San Antonio, Texas.

Then, Dean hitchhiked on into San Antonio, Texas completing his sixteen day hitchhiking journey there from Nashville, Tennessee. On September 13, 2009, Dean booked himself a recording session to record his song "You're Meaning More And More To Me" on September 16th in San Antonio, Texas at Wavemaker Studio. Then, Dean continued hitchhiking toward San Antonio, Texas from Fort Worth.
On September 10, 2009, using the chat option on www.facebook.com, while in Fort Worth, Texas, and chatting with the Bandera Saloon owner's son, Rocky Lee Acosta, Dean got himself booked to perform at the Bandera Saloon in Bandera, Texas on October 10, 2009 from noon till 4pm.
While in Fort Worth, Texas on September 8, 2009, Dean Strickland AKA The Hitchhiking Guitarman received a phone call. When he answered his phone, Dean assumed that his caller had him on speaker phone, and it turned out to be a true assumption as it was Claude Drinner, City Attorney for the City
for Amarillo, Texas , and Todd Hatter, Deputy City Attorney for the City of Amarillo, Texas both speaking to Dean using their speaker phone option.

Mr. Hatter and Mr. Drinner first stated during the phone conversation that they were both in agreement that they would not pursue the assault charge against Cliff Schraag, the manager of  the Golden Light Cantina in Amarillo, Texas that Dean filed with the Amarillo Police Department on August 10, 2009.

During that phone conversation Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter were in agreement that they both had read in it’s entirety the Amarillo Police Department Investigator, Denise Hill’s investigative report on the charge of assault filed by Dean Strickland against Cliff Schraag, and their opinion’s were that there was not enough corroborating evidence for them to pursue the case in court.

Dean’s first commented to them saying, “You can’t fight city hall, huh?“ Dean argued with Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that he had a witness, and Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter argued with Dean that the accused, Cliff Schraag also had witnesses that had said Dean used cuss words in the bar, and that the assault never took place. Dean then said to Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that he never cussed. Then one of them asked Dean if he wanted them to file charges against him, and Dean replied, “Go ahead. You think I won’t stand up?”

Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter spoke in agreement that Dean’s witness, Mr. Stephen Parker Lamb’s witness statement they had both disregarded as corroborating evidence, because he was Dean’s friend. Dean argued to Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that he believed that Cliff Schraag had been Stephen Lamb’s friend for many more years more than he had been. Dean was unable to distinguish between Mr. Drinner’s and Mr. Hatter’s voices as, after that was said, it was said to Dean by one of the voices speaking to him on the phone, either by Mr. Drinner or Mr. Hatter, that they understood it was said to Mr. Lamb by Mr. Schraag, “You were never my friend.“ which Dean said to them he remember that being said. It happened on August 10, 2009, after Steve Lamb grabbed Cliff Schraag to get him off the top of Dean as they were both lying in the puddle of water in the street.

Dean, Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter were all in agreement that the witnesses in the bar that had made statements saying that the assault never took place were more than likely friends of the accused, Cliff Schraag. At a point in the phone conversation, Dean argued, during the conversation that it sounded as though Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter were taking sides in the case, and Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter said they were not taking sides.

During the phone conversation, Dean made a comment to Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter about the Houston Press blog published online regarding this story, and Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter were both in agreement that they would not use the blog in Court. Dean thought that some of  Mr. Drinner’s and Mr. Hatter’s comments were noted from the online Houston Press blog postings - particularly the comment about how they knew that Mr. Schraag said to Mr. Lamb, “You were never my friend“ .

During their phone conversation, Dean told Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that he had another witness that watched outside of the Golden Light Cantina as he got beat on by Cliff Schraag in the street, and that the witnesses name is Shannon Bates of Amarillo, Texas, whom Dean went in the Golden Light Café to have lunch with that day, and that Shannon Bates was more of an acquaintance of  his since he had not seen him in about three years as opposed to Steve Lamb being more of a friend, since he had stayed at his house on several occasions after hitchhiking to Amarillo when scheduled to perform there.

During their phone conversation, Dean told Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that due to unresolved legal issues with the City of Amarillo, Texas that he did not ask Shannon Bates to write a witness statement. And that Mr. Bates had told Dean that after Mr. Schragg assaulted him on August 10, 2009, Mr. Schraag told Mr. Bates that his reason for beating on Dean in the in the street was to uphold his reputation. After that Dean recalled being told by Mr. Bates on more than one occasion how that Mr. Bates told Mr. Schraag, during that brief conversation which took place in the parking lot of the Golden Light Cantina as Shannon was picking up Steve Lamb’s truck, since Steve had just been trespassed by the Golden Light Cantina after Mr. Schraag assaulted Dean in the street then afterward denied it when questioned about it to the Amarillo Police, also after the police told Steve he could not pick up his own truck, “You don’t have a reputation.”

Dean argued with Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter that it doesn’t appear as though any number of witnesses statements that he has from people that were standing outside of the Golden Light Cantina, and say he was assaulted by Cliff Schraag in the street will be regarded as corroborating evidence by the City of Amarillo, but yet Claude Drinner, the City Attorney for Amarillo, Texas, and Todd. Hatter, the Deputy City Attorney for Amarillo, Texas regard the manager of the Golden Light Cantina, Cliff Schraag’s, as Mr. Drinner and Mr. Hatter both agreed, more than likely friends, and witnesses that were inside the bar, and say the assault never happened statement‘s. Dean was never told if the statements by Cliff Schraag’s more than likely friend and witnesses are in writing.

Dean‘s cell phone ran out of minutes which caused him to have to stop arguing his case, and hang up.

While in Fort Worth, Texas on September 6, 2009, and Vicksburg, Mississippi on September 5, 2009, Dean wrote his song:
You're Meaning More And More To Me

I'd like to tell you a story
About how soon after I met the woman of my dreams
I opened up to her and said you excite me Sherri
And I think I know what that means

But all I want to say for now is you excite me
Then she laughed and replied what do you mean Dean
I quickly said I mean you're meaning more and more to me
Then began imagining that she was thinking elaborate please
So I put it this way

Though being with you seems too good to be true
If money enough I had to satisfy me and you
I'd ask if I could and stay a while

For your lady like figure makes my joyous heart quiver
As I happily gaze upon your photogenic picture
That so beautifully captured your gorgeous smile

I'd take the journey and enjoy the travel
Hoping our lives with prayer would less likely unravel
And would dread ever leaving you once we'd embrace in our meeting

Now with a risk I take of sounding too forward
I say to you in my heart and thoughts you adored
But I'm not afraid and these things to you honestly Sherri I say

I mean you're meaning more and more to me with each passing day
Again I mean you're meaning more and more to me with each passing day
